DENVER, COLO. (2/27/08) -- Swallow Hill is pleased to welcome the hardworking troubadour, Catie Curtis, on Saturday, March 15 at 8 p.m.

Catie Curtis has headlined clubs and theaters throughout the U.S. since the mid-1990s. A supporter of social causes, she has played concerts benefiting organizations including Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camp (for children with life-threatening illnesses), Women of Means (medical care for homeless women), the Montessori School Diversity Initiative and many others. Her songs have appeared in television shows as diverse as Grey's Anatomy, Dawson's Creek, Felicity, and Alias, and films such as 500 Miles to Graceland and A Slipping Down Life.

Her latest recording, Long Night Moon, is her most personal effort to date and is an intricate work of stripped-down modern folk. Produced by Lorne Entress (Lori McKenna, Mark Erelli, Alastair Moock), the songs on this record have a raw and organic quality that reflect Curtis' live performance style, and simple arrangements that feature strings and vintage instruments to create a soundscape with an often hushed quality that never overwhelms her sweet, strong voice. The track, "People Look Around," earned Catie (along with co-writer Mark Erelli) the Grand Prize in this year's International Songwriting Competition (out of 15,000 entries from 82 countries), and addresses the human toll and the divisive political landscape that arose in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Susan Werner, who has been dubbed by the Chicago Tribune as "one of the most innovative songwriters working today," will open for Curtis.
