HIGHLIGHTS

Guy Clark
Saturday, March 1 at 8 p.m.
Swallow Hill presents folk legend Guy Clark as he comes to perform for a special engagement at L2 Church, located at Colfax and Columbine. A Nashville Songwriters Foundation’s Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee as well as a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Songwriting by the Americana Music Association, he is a national treasure and folk icon who creates masterful, poignant melodies and insightful lyrics that speak to the heart.

René Heredia
Friday and Saturday, March 7 and 8, at 8 p.m.
The celebrated Flamenco guitarist René Heredia is back with his dancers for a two-night engagement. A multi-award winner, he is a consummate performer who has played all over the world and is one of Colorado's most acclaimed composers.

Catie Curtis with Susan Werner
Saturday, March 15 at 8 p.m.
RollingStone.com
has called up-and-coming contemporary artist Catie Curtis "very much an original, and a refreshing departure from the stale formula offered by many of today's singer-songwriters." A supporter of social causes, Curtis is a hardworking troubadour who has toured all over the U.S. and is a rising star who delivers beautiful, powerful songs.

John Davis & Jack Williams
Friday, March 21 at 8 p.m.
This double-billing of two singer/songwriters who have had colorful careers and are masters of their musicianship will make for a very special evening for the Swallow Hill audience. Storytellers with myriad influences, Davis and Williams are professionals who have traversed many paths and received numerous accolades.

Pat Donohue with the Beth Leachman Trio
Saturday, March 22 at 8 p.m.
From swing to jazz to bottleneck blues to folk, Grammy-winning acoustic guitarist Pat Donohue plays it all with a flourish of artistry and melodic inspiration. Probably most well-known for being a regular on A Prairie Home Companion, Donohue has been called "one of the greatest finger pickers in the world today" by Chet Atkins.

Second Annual Denver Folk & Roots Music Festival
Friday, March 28 at 6 p.m.
Swallow Hill is proud to present the second annual Denver Folk & Roots Music Festival at Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Our inaugural festival last March proved that Denver's elegant new opera venue is just as comfortable with bluegrass as it is with La Bohème. This year we are presenting legendary singer/songwriters Bruce Cockburn and Nanci Griffith as our headliners, preceded by a series of showcase performances by musicians whose work spans the gamut of folk and roots music.

John Gorka with Amilia Spicer
Saturday, April 5 at 8 p.m.
Rolling Stone dubbed John Gorka "the preeminent male singer/songwriter of the new folk movement." His rich, multi-faceted songs full of depth, beauty, and emotion has garnered much attention from critics and audiences across the country as well as internationally.

Arvel Bird & Fifth World
Friday, April 11 at 8 p.m.
Swallow Hill is very excited to present the best-known Native American violinist touring today, Arvel Bird, and the Native trio Fifth World, as they perform together in a rare Colorado appearance. Fifth World is comprised of Andrew Begay, one of the world's finest flute makers in the Dine tradition, Ash Dargan, a didgeridoo player from Australia's Aboriginal Larrakia nation, and Will Clipman, a five-time Grammy nominee and Saamokee percussionist.

Chris Smither
Saturday, April 12 at 8 p.m.
Named as 2007's Outstanding Folk Act by the Boston Music Awards, the Associated Press proclaims "Smither is an American original, a product of the musical melting pot, and one of the absolute best singer-songwriters in the world." His career has been a process of refinement, growth, and discovery, with songs that are contemplative and in a search to distinguish truth.

Jesse Winchester
Saturday, April 26 at 8 p.m.
The prolific songwriter Jesse Winchester is known for his amazing body of impressive songwriting work as well as his prominence as a draft-evader of the Vietnam War. Despite much critical acclaim, he was unable to tour in the States during the singer/songwriter boom of the 1970s. As a result, his songs were recorded by many other esteemed artists who made them famous, including Michael Martin Murphey's cover of "I'm Gonna Miss You, Girl," which placed in the Top Ten on the country charts.
