Star Edwards

Self taught and coming from a non-musical family, Star began her musical journey at the age of 13, playing guitar, dulcimer, and recorder. The harp quickly became her main focus after seeing one at a Renaissance Fair. Taking a few lessons from area teachers, Star was able to bring to the harp her interests in different kinds of music, blending traditional sound with her contemporary styles.

In 1983, Star established the Colorado Folk Harp Society to bring forth an awareness of the harp in the community. She directs as well as arranges music for The Colorado Celtic Harp Orchestra. Star has recorded two albums featuring the Celtic harp and Irish wire harp and performs regularly at festivals and various concert venues.

Star's teaching approach is tailored to each individual student, depending on how the student learns (using right brain - imagination, or left brain - rote). Students may learn to play the harp by ear, or by reading music. Body/mind awareness is an important component of Star's teaching style.

She teaches beginning through intermediate level students.
